Visiting THE Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam!!
Turns out standing in front of Van Gogh’s Sunflowers in person hits very differently than a poster of it on your college dorm wall 🥲💭 The Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam is genuinely one of the coolest ways to spend a few hours in the city! Four floors of the world’s largest Van Gogh collection, taking you through his entire arc as an artist, from his moody early work to the bold, chaotic brushstrokes he became iconic for. Beyond the paintings, the museum does a brilliant job of bringing Van Gogh’s life story to the surface. The guy was genuinely fascinating, way more layered and interesting than the “tortured artist who cut off his ear” headlines suggest!!
Logistics: it’s right on Museumplein, super easy by tram, and surrounded by great spots to grab a coffee after (recommend the Coffee District Willemsparkweg ☕️ Tickets are €25 for adults and online-only: https://tickets.vangoghmuseum.nl/en/tickets
There’s no showing up and winging it at the door, so book in advance and select a time. Give yourself a couple of hours, and maybe don’t skip the audio guide. We also loved the gift shop!!
