Lake Atitlán is located just north of Antigua (roughly a 4 hour shuttle) and is surrounded by mountains and volcanoes. Just outside the main town of Panachanjel on the lake, commonly referred to as “Pana”, are Villas B’alam Ya. To get here, you take a tuk tuk from Pana that takes about 15 minutes. It feels remote and like you have the lake to yourself!
Villas B’alam Ya – Villa Mirador
My friend and I had the pleasure of staying in the Villa Mirador and couldn’t have been happier with our experience. The villa offers sweeping views of the lake and nearby volcanoes from nearly every vantage point. With two bedrooms and a studio, the Villa Mirador is spacious, beautifully decorated and comes with two massive balconies. On the property, you can use kayaks and canoes or go swimming in the lake. Continental breakfast is included and you can also hire a gourmet chef to cook a meal for you in the villa. For more information about the Villas and their services, check out their website.
Villas B’alam Ya – Villa Views
The Villas are situated perfectly across from the volcanoes (Volcán Atitlán, Volcán San Pedro, and Volcán Tolimán). You can enjoy the views from the lower balcony on a hammock or soft cushion bench. In the master bedroom on the main floor, there are also comfortable chairs facing the lake. On the second level, there is a large patio with lounge chairs to take in the views.
Flower & Plant Life
One of my favorite parts of staying at the Villas was being surrounded by beautiful flowers and plants on the property. Everywhere you look, in between each villa and near the dock on the lake are bright and beautiful flowers!
Please note I was welcomed as a guest by Villas B’alam Ya. As always, all opinions are my own.
