Unplug and Recharge in Nature at Haramara Retreat

HaramaraRetreat

Ever feel like going off the grid? You can step away from the digital world and plug into nature at Haramara Retreat. This is a secluded retreat hotel located just outside Sayulita, Mexico. For those of you who don’t know, Sayulita is a hippie town just north of Puerto Vallarta. The busy town of Sayulita is actually only a 5-8 minute cab ride away. However, Haramara is situated RIGHT in nature so you feel completely unplugged. Haramara Retreat is a wellness retreat center that offers group retreats such as yoga and meditation. It has a private beach, wellness center, and infinity pool all in a space described as “rustic luxury”.

Recently, I spent a weekend at Haramara and stepped away from the digital world. With no internet to be found, you feel pretty distant from reality. This was my first experience truly stepping away from the internet. At first I felt anxious and like I was missing out on something important. That being said, I knew I’d be able to catch up fast! I think taking a breather from social media is important especially for those who are on it all the time like me. Haramara is an ideal place to take a break, relax and spend time outdoors.

When you book your stay here, you can choose either a private cabana or shared dormitory. All of the accommodations are located in the jungle and overlooking the ocean. I stayed in one of the cabanas down a hiking trail that led to the ocean. It had a hammock and seating area just outside the cabin. There is no electricity, so at night you use oil lamps and candles! It really added to the feeling of being truly remote. There are also two “yoga shalas” on the property, both with beautiful surroundings of the Sierra Madre mountains and Pacific Ocean.

Beyond the setting, Haramara offers an amazing culinary experience unparalleled in the area. I was pleasantly surprised upon arriving! I was greeted with a delicious ceviche dish very friendly staff. Each of the meals come with an appetizer, main entrée and desert. Also, they paid special attention to those with special dietary needs and requests which were always accommodated. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and would recommend this experience especially to those looking to getaway and unplug. Find my photo gallery below to see more of Haramara.
