Situated in the heart of Antigua, Guatemala is a beautiful boutique hotel called El Convento Boutique Hotel. The hotel is a short walk away from the Cerro de la Cruz, Santa Catalina’s arch, and the Capuchinas Convent. From check in to check out, we felt right at home. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Antigua. There are 26 unique suites decorated with contemporary art and all of which flow into a central courtyard with a pool. The staff are really friendly and the patio area is super lush!
The Grand Master Suite
My friend Reid and I stayed in a two story suite in a corner room that blew us away when we opened the door! The first floor was already amazing and then there’s a spiral staircase that leads to yet another space with it’s own full bathroom. The suite comes with a fireplace, TV, desks, comfortable seating areas inside AND outside in its own private terrace with a jacuzzi. Both bathrooms had their own spacious showers and bathtubs. It also came with built in sound system so you could have ambient music on in the background – yea, seriously!
El Convento Restaurant
Beyond the room itself, this hotel also has an amazing restaurant attached to it. Antigua offers plenty of international cuisines (Italian, Japanese, Vietnamese, Mexican, and of course Guatemalan) all around town. There are tons of great restaurants to choose from, including El Convento Restaurant. We enjoyed a brunch here one morning and didn’t get a chance to try their dinner but heard it’s delicious.
Overall, we had an AMAZING stay at this hotel. It was like a vacation staying here in it of itself. My friend and I were here at the end of rainy season (early October) so the mornings were gorgeous and the afternoons were a bit wet. Given this, it was really nice to be able to go back to the hotel in the afternoons to just chill. If you head to Antigua, definitely consider a stay here. The rates are affordable, especially if you have a travel buddy, rooms start at $159 USD a night.
Please note I was welcomed as a guest by El Convento Boutique Hotel. As always, all opinions are my own.
